James Orvil Scott, 71, of Millport, Alabama, passed away on February 27, 2022 at Aliceville Manor in Aliceville, Alabama. A memorial service will be Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, Alabama with Bro. Ronnie Lawler officiating. Visitation with the family will be 10:45- 12:00 p.m. in the chapel. The family has chosen cremation.

Orvil was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator for many years. He enjoyed buying, selling and trading cars, trucks and equipment. Anyone who knew him, knew he loved a good cup of coffee, talking to anyone, and a pack of Winstons.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ortho and Genny Scott, his wife Marilyn Leonard Scott, brothers David Scott and Bobby Scott, sisters Nell Ray, Ann Scoggins, Doris Smith and Barbara Jean Scott.

He is survived by his son, Eric Scott (Misty) of Millport, AL., one granddaughter, Ella Scott, sister Mary Gilbert (Eugene) of Brilliant, AL., brothers Roger Scott (Waunetta), Vernon, AL., Johnny Scott (Letty), Millport, AL., sister-in-law Carolyn Friday, Millport, AL., brother-in-law Dan Leonard (Hilda), Brilliant, AL., and a host of nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Amedisys Home Health, Russellville Hospital, Dr. Morrow and staff, the entire staff of Aliceville Manor, the Lamar Association Relief Team for the wheelchair ramp and a very special thanks to Peggy Patchen, his special friend and longtime caregiver.
