Obituary

Roger Dean Cash, 89, of Millport, Alabama, passed away on September 11,  2025 at Fayette Long Term Care. Funeral services will be Sunday, September 14,  2025 at 3:00 p.m. with Bro. Ronnie Elmore and Bro. Jerry Robbins officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Reform, Alabama under the direction of Dowdle Funeral Home.

After graduation at Millport High School, Roger served a total of 10 years and 4 months in the U.S. Air Force during both the Korean and Vietnam war eras. He was stationed most of that time in Alaska and spent some time in Hawaii. After returning home, he met and married the love of his life, Peggy Elmore Cash. Together they raised six children as well as two of her younger brothers after they lost their parents at a young age.     After starting out their life in the Oak Ridge Community in Fayette County, they moved to his hometown of Millport, where they lived until they both moved to Fayette Long Term Care. He and his wife Peggy were married on February 24,1968 and were happily married for 57 years.

Roger was a talented mechanic and made his living doing that until he went to work for Weyerhaeuser Company in Millport, AL in the maintenance department and worked there until retirement. Upon retirement, Roger stayed busy as a mechanic in his home shop. He liked to stay busy as long as he was able. Roger was much loved by his family and his church family at Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. He also had many friends who meant a lot to him. He was never one who used the word love a lot but he showed love in many ways.

He will be greatly missed by so many, but we are comforted in knowing that he wanted to be and was so looking forward to being with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as well as loved ones that had gone before him, especially his daughter Vickie, who left this world much too soon. His greatest wish and prayer was to see all of his family there some day.

Roger is preceded in death by his much loved daughter Vickie Dianne Cash Trull, a granddaughter, Heather Nicole Belk (infant), a great-grandson Collin Cash Freeman (infant), his parents, Herbert and Pearl Cash. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, three sisters, Hilda Cash Wells, Joyce Cash Knight, Ruth Cash Bartlett and several nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Elmore Cash, a daughter Denita Belk Phillips, son Terry Belk (Kathy), daughter Judy Belk Deese (Glen), daughter Kim Cash Burt and youngest son Chris Cash (Crystal), fourteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson, a sister Charlene Gretzmeyer as well as several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Phillips, Josh Deese, Kyle Trull, Cade Cash, Hagen Burt, Jeremy Elmore, Jeremy Mordecai, Casey Elmore and Jared Elmore. Honorary Pallbearers are the Men of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank everyone for everything that has been done for them during this sad time in our lives. We appreciate every call, text, visit, food brought and the beautiful flowers and plants. We also ask that you continue to pray for us as we face life without him.
