Obituary

Roger Alan Lindsey, age 57, passed away unexpectedly at DCH Regional Medical Center on Monday, March 30, 2020.  He was born on January 13, 1963 in Tuscaloosa, AL to C.B. Lindsey and Mary Verzino.

He was a 1981 graduate of Pickens County High School where he lettered in basketball, football, and baseball.  After graduation he attended Shelton State Community College where he received an associate degree in Electrical Technology.

Roger began working early in life.  His first job was working as a lineman assistant with 4-County Electric Company in Mississippi.  He rode his motorcycle to work because he wasn't old enough to have a drivers' license.  He then worked as an electrician for Fayette Cotton Mill in Fayette, Alabama.  After working several years as an electrician, he left the Cotton Mill and began working with Harold Bolling Construction of Reform, Alabama.  This eventually led to the opening of his own business, Lindsey Cabinet Shop, LLC in 1999 where he grew a thriving business.  He was a hard worker and a very talented builder who took great pride in his work. Roger has built a multitude of beautiful, custom cabinetry for many happy customers all over West Alabama, East Mississippi and the surrounding areas.

As hard as Roger worked, he played just as hard.  He had a multitude of hobbies.  He enjoyed skiing, boating and raising animals among a few. You never knew what kind of animal he would bring home next. He was a music connoisseur!  His favorites were Classic Rock and Country. He spent many years hunting ringtail coons and making lifelong friends. He was also known for his collecting and trading skills.  He loved collecting guns, Case knives, and trading vehicles. He was an avid Alabama fan and enjoyed tailgating with his children and watching Alabama football.  But nowhere was he happier than on a ball field with his children.  Roger devoted many hours of his time to travel ball and sporting events.  He loved working with the boys in the batting cage to improve their skills.  No matter the sport, basketball, football, baseball or volleyball; if his children were involved, Roger was there to cheer them on. Car Car, Brother and Sissy Boo, as he so fondly nicknamed each of them, were his most prized accomplishments. He always encouraged his children to work and to be the best that they could be.  He loved his children and would talk about them to anyone that would listen. Roger was one of a kind.  He will be greatly missed and would have been so touched by all the love that has been shown.

Roger is survived by his mother, Mary Verzino; his children, Carson Lindsey, Grayson Lindsey and Anna Grace Lindsey; and his children's mother, Pam Lindsey; sister Jacquelene Lindsey Lee (Billy Ray); nephew, Adam Lee (Ashley).

He is preceded in death by his father, C.B. Lindsey; and his grandparents, Kenneth and Dollie Lindsey, and Grady and Mary Phillips.

Private services will be held under the care and compassion of Dowdle Funeral Home.  A celebration of life and memorial service will be held at a later date due to the current restrictions associated with the Covid-19 pandemic. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations can be made to your favorite charity or donations can be made to a special account for his children at any West Alabama Bank and Trust location.
