Roland Higdon, 89, passed away December 9, 2023 at Fayette Long Term Care in Fayette, AL. There will be a graveside service Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Higdon Church of God Cemetery in Kennedy, AL, with Bro. Terry Robinson officiating and Bro. David Long assisting.

Roland was a simple man who took pride in his family as well as everything he did. He married the love of his life in 1955 and spent 53 years loving years together. Roland owned and operated the Millport City service station for many years before deciding to join his father in the merchantile business in Millport, AL, called W. E. Higdon & Son. After that he then changed directions and went to work at Arvin Industries on Fayette, AL for many years before finishing out his career with Weyerhauser Company in Millport, AL. He was loved by all and taught his family to treat everyone with love and respect and never say "CAN'T". He worshiped everyone at Fayette Medical Center long-term care and was always entertaining them with his worship and wonderful singing voice.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Laudeen Higdon; his parents, William Ernest Higdon and Willie Mae Cobb Higdon; and sisters, Betty Harris, Arleta Higdon, and Frances Long.

He is survived by his daughter, Lawana Lucas (Geary); one son, Steve Higdon (Karen); 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Mike Hildreth, Nick Porter, Chad Higdon, Josh Ham, Joey Carrell, and Geary Lucas.
