Sarah Edree Johnson Adkins, 94 of Vernon, Al passed away October 29, 2017 at BMH-GT.
Born in Lamar County to the late William Ed Johnson and Sarah Wheeler Johnson. She was an amazing woman who sowed a legacy of faith in her family. All who entered her home were loved and accepted unconditionally. They were not only served some of the South's best cooking, but a big healthy dose of laughter. She was a good steward of her money not needing a penny from anyone even at the age of 94. She never complained and had a determination that kept her positive and marching forward even in difficult circumstances, When she was told she would need a walker after breaking her hip, She replied, I'm going to walk again without a walker. and she did. At the age of 64 she went back to school and earned a culinary degree and was at the top of her class. She was also instrumental in getting the road paved in her neighborhood. Mrs. Adkins was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Church where over the years she served as a pianist, on the Flower Committee, and as the Church Secretary. She was and will continue to be loved by her 7 grandchildren, who consider time spent at Grandma's house among their favorite childhood memories. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Vernon W. Adkins Jr.
