Obituary

Sarepta Hunnicutt, 92, of Kennedy, Alabama went to his heavenly home on May 1, 2021 at West Alabama Hospice in Tuscaloosa, AL. Funeral services will be Monday, May 3, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Dowdle Funeral Home. Bro. Carlos Dean and Bro. Craig Holliman officiating. There will be no public visitation.

Rep was born in Lamar County on March 2, 1929 to the late Travis Hunnicutt and Izona Bryant. He retired from Westinghouse Corporation. He lived his entire life in Kennedy, except for his service time in the United States Army. He was a very active member of his church serving as a deacon, music director and Sunday school teacher for many years at Riverside Baptist Church. He loved gardening and sharing his produce with friends and neighbors. He was an avid lover of music and taught many singing schools in the area.

He is survived by his children, Frankel Hunnicutt (Donna) of Kennedy, Al., Gwenda Aldridge (Jerry) of Millport, AL. and Kitty Fooshee (Ronald) of New Albany, MS. He was Paw-Paw to grandchildren Brandon Hunnicutt (Karen), Chris Hunnicutt (Brittany), Carrie Powell (Michael), David Fooshee (Nicole), and Sarah Gregory (Adam). He was Big Pop to nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Demas Hunnicutt.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years , Jewel Nabors Hunnicutt, his parents, a sister Geraldine Nabors, an infant brother James David Hunnicutt, a brother Edward Hunnicutt and step-mother Euline Newell Hunnicutt.
