Shirley A. Jones, 79 of Cottondale, Alabama passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Hospice of West Ala. in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Born Friday, July 9, 1939 in Bibb County Alabama, to the late Mr. Edward Thompson and Mrs. Littia Garner Thompson.

Surviving are sons, Phillip Jones(Connie), and Jeff Jones, brothers, Roy Thompson, Ronnie Thompson(Kathy), and Danny Thompson(Janice), sisters, Barbara Moore and Dixie Schmacher; 6 grand children; 2 great grand children. Special friend, Lance Smith.

A Funeral service will beheld at 2:00 PM on Sunday, August 19,2018 at Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Christian Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel,

Mrs. Shirley married on January 5,1957 at the age of 17, to the love of her life and had two boys and was able to travel the world with them. They took residence all over and resided in Saudi Arabia where they lived for 9 years with the military and eventually ended up back in Vernon, AL. after their first granchild was born.She loved her family and made sure to spoil her grandchildren.Her favorite past time was spending time with her friends at the local coffee shop.

In her last few years she enjoyed visits with her family and spending time with her special friend, Lance Smith.
