Stonie Dennis Vaughan passed away on March 22, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS. He was the son of the late Joe Felix Vaughan, Jr. and Ruth Woods Hollis Vaughan.
Stonie served his country in the U.S. Army for 21 years retiring as a Sergeant Major. After retirement, he and his wife moved to the Liberty Community. He was the fire chief for several years and also a local businessman. He was a dad, grandfather and great-grandfather. While he could seem gruff at times, he had a kind and generous heart and was always willing to help family and friends. He is now reunited with his wife in heaven.
Stonie is survived by 2 daughters, Gena Flynn and Melody Cress, one son, Gary Vaughan, a sister, Mickie Harrison, 3 brothers, Joe Vaughan, Eddy Warn and Teddy Warn, 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He is preceeded in death by his parents and his wife, Reba Lucille (Rouse) Vaughan.
There will be a family graveside service on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at Andrews Chapel Cemetery in Liberty, AL.
