MILLPORT—William Vance "Bill" Johnson, 79, loved by many people in Millport and area, died Sunday night, January 20, 2019 around 10 p.m. at the Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

He was born January 17, 1940 to the late Vance and Dorthy Prater Johnson.

He was a member of the Millport, Baptist Church and served in the National Guard for a full term. Called "Bill" by all who knew him, Mr. Johnson, was a charismatic person who always spoke and usually found something pleasant to say. He never married but had many friends with whom he associated freely and happily.

Survivors include a brother, Michael Johnson(Tenne) of Mobile AL and their children Amy Elizabeth and Don Ninton of Hattisburg, Mississippi, and Michael Vance Johnson of Mobile AL.

He was preceded in death by his parents Vance and Dorothy Prater Johnson of Millport.

Graveside services are being held at Millport City Cemetery on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 2:00PM.

The visitation will be held from 1:00PM until 2:00 PM on Tuesday January 22, 2019 at Dowdle Funeral Home.

The family asks that memorials to honor Mr. Johnson be given to the South Lamar Rescue Squad.
