William Gibbs Suggs Jr., 85, of Millport, AL, passed away on April 20, 2024 at The Tuscaloosa V.A. There will be a memorial service on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport, AL, with Bro. Hunter Fields officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel.

William retired from the United States Army after 23 years of service (1957-1980). He served in Vietnam and Korea. He retired from Monroe Tufline in Columbus, MS after 20 years and he was a Lamar County resident of 54 years.

William is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Suggs; his parents, William Suggs Sr. and Ina Suggs; daughter, Vickie Williams; son, Eugene Wayne Suggs; sister, Bess Stienman; and bothers, Jimmy Devoe and Bobby Suggs.

He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Porter; son, William G. Suggs III; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
