Willis Bascum Higdon, 89 of Kennedy, Alabama died on Monday, June 3, 2019, at his residence in Kennedy, Alabama.

Born Wednesday, March 12, 1930 in Palmetto Alabama to the late Mr. Hillary Alexander Higdon and Mrs. Carry Ophelia Kyles Higdon. He was the husband of Helen Higdon.

In the early years Mr. Higdon worked for the Kennedy Hotel where he kept coal in the rooms for the heaters, he also worked at Kennedy Lumber and Brown Wood for many years. He lead singing at Higdon Church of God for 40 years and overseen Higdon Cemetery for many years where he was a member.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen Joan Higdon, and his Niece, Brenda Ling.

He is preceded in death by his parents Mr. Hillary Alexander Higdon and Mrs. Carry Ophelia Kyles Higdon, and one daughter Sharon Joan Higdon.

Officiating will be Jeff Long with Ed Nabors assisting and Danny Dollar speaking.

Pall Bearers will be DJ Dollar, Mickey Watkins, Tim Robinson, Nicky Nichols, Fred Ray Savage, Jeff Locke, Bubba Bittle, and Jackie Patchen

The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, June 5th, 2019, at Dowdle Funeral Home.

The Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 4th, 2019 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Dowdle Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Higdon Church Cemetery, Kennedy, AL.
